2010 Faculty  "The Three Tenors"

James L. Fanelli, OD, FAAO

Dr. Fanelli is originally from suburban Philadelphia, and attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he graduated in 1985.  He has been in private practice since that time in coastal North Carolina, specializing in glaucoma and acute care.

 

He has lectured nationwide at state and national meetings on a wide variety of topics dealing primarily with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic modalities.  He has developed a course for certifying OD’s in the use of injections in primary eye care that has been used by several states, and which was required for licensure renewal of North Carolina optometrists. 

 

Dr. Fanelli is a Contributing Editor for Review of Optometry, and is the author of the bi-monthly Glaucoma Grand Rounds column.

 

He is a past President of the North Carolina State Board of Examiners in Optometry.  He is also a past Trustee of  the North Carolina State Optometric Society, where he served as Continuing Education Chairman.  He serves as chariman of the EyeSki Optometric Conference.  He is an adjunct faculty member of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and is also a Visiting Professor of Clinical Medicine at PCO.

 

Carlo J. Pelino, OD, FAAO

Carlo J. Pelino, OD, is a 1994 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. In 1995 Dr. Pelino completed a PCO ocular disease residency at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, where he concentrated in retina and neuro-ophthalmic disease. Dr. Pelino is currently a full time Assistant Professor at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and is director of the optometric retina service at The Eye Institute. He recently completed a one year retinal fellowship emphasizing medical and surgical treatments under the direction of vitreo-retinal surgeons at Crozier-Chester and Riddle Memorial Hospitals in suburban Philadelphia. Dr. Pelino is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. He regularly lectures in domestic and international programs.

Joseph J. Pizzimenti, OD, FAAO

Dr. Joseph J. Pizzimenti is an internationally-recognized speaker in Ocular Disease, with an emphasis on acquired maculopathies. Dr. Pizzimenti is an Associate Professor at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) College of Optometry. 

 

Dr. Pizzimenti has completed funded clinical research in the areas of diabetes, age-related macular degeneration, and low vision. Dr. Pizzimenti’s scientific articles and have appeared in Optometry and Vision Science, Pharmacotherapy, Optometry: Journal of the American Optometric Association, Optometric Education, The Diabetes Educator, Eye Care Review, The Internet Journal of Allied Health Science and Practice, Review of Optometry, Clinical and Experimental Optometry, and Sleep Medicine. 

Dr. Pizzimenti resides in Boca Raton, FL, with his wife and three children.
